VINTAGE RENEWAL: CRACKLE GREEN TWO-PIECE

Sunday, September 28, 2014

This two-piece is a perfect example of the individual fabric prints you can find in second hand shops. Theres nothing better than to have something thats one of a kind, not one person will be able to find this on the high street. This was another long skirt that I've re-invented into an amazing skirt and top co-ord. The emerald green colour has an almost cracked effect in it which makes the look interesting enough to keep the silhouette simple. I've styled the look with a black leather belt, a black duster jacket from ASOS, a trusty hat from H&M, black studded Zara boots and my prized Asian necklace I brought back all the way from Thailand. If you want to get your hands on anything from this look take a look at the links at the bottom of the page for some similar pieces. You can also get yourself this very two-piece, just take a look at my Depop site @lizdenson.

VINTAGE RENEWAL: EMBROIDERED STRAPLESS GYPSY TOP

Tuesday, September 16, 2014

Probably the most ultimate vintage renewal happens when your original item isn't even a piece of clothing....just like this beautiful bohemian gypsy top with delicate embroidery which began life as a table cloth! So maybe the lace trim gives its original identity away a little but this creation just proves that potential can be found in the most random object. I saw the embroidered flowers and immediately thought they were too pretty to sit along side the old drink stains that linger on the rest of the cloth so decided to purchase the cloth for a sweet price of £3! So far I've made this top and skirt and still have plenty embroidery pieces left over. These pieces might have to wait until next summer (unless a Indian summer really kicks in) but these classic boho styles are always welcomed by a summers day.

VINTAGE RENEWAL: FLORAL TWO PIECE

Tuesday, September 02, 2014

This was such an amazing fabric print to find and in fact started life as one garment... a midi skirt! Finding long skirts or items that are a large size and have a lot of fabric to play with is a great way to make yourself a really individual two piece, you just have to be strategic and not waist any fabric. Making the skirt is easy, just cut the hem to desired length and take in the waist to fit you. Its how wise you are using the left over fabric is the tricky bit. With this two piece I only just had enough fabric to create this cropped vest.
